Lost man hikes 27 miles from Elk Lake to nearby Cascades Lakes Highway

Bryce here:
I have a buddy on search and rescue. Apparently a few days back a guy got lost...in the morning...at Elk lake.

About dusk he had found his way to a phone. He was at McKinsey Bridge! He had gone 27 miles cross country in one day. Yuck!

All for lack of a $6.00 map and a little compass or a cell phone (and some common sense).
--Bryce

Note: Cascade Lakes Highway borders the east side Elk Lake about 400 yards distant!  This guy was really lost! --Webmeister
